The year 2025 in Japan will mark the post-war baby boom’s generation surpassing age 75. Japan will enter into a “super-aged” society the likes of which it has yet to experience. As those in health-related fields, such as medical and nursing personnel, are forced to deal with the large-scale changes in society, we have begun a project, within the living environment profession, that considers the health and wellbeing of individuals.

As a country, Japan is beginning to consider shifts from in-hospital care to in-home care.

Researchers in architecture and medicine have come together to consider the possibilities for living a healthier lifestyle at home. With the cooperation of local governments and businesses across Japan, as well as from individual citizens, there will be a five-year study to examine the impact on living environment factors, including temperature and humidity, on e in those homes.

We will strive to push forward with research that will aid our future for healthy lifestyles and optimal living.

This project was chosen as a field of inquiry that will vastly expand creative, pioneering research, as an academic research grant recipient of ¥159.7 billion from 2017 to 2021, classified as JSPS Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (S), JP17H06151, by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
